T5W -Fictional Jobs You’d Want To Have

Time for my second “Top 5 Wednesday”! This weekly meme/tag his hosted on this Goodreads group. Today’s topic is about any fictional job you’d want to have, and it can apply to more than just books. Though I chose to only pick books for this one 🙂

5. Agent in Chequy (The Rook by Daniel O’Malley)

How cool wouldn’t it be to be a secret agent? Then imagine if it was a secret agency that dealt with supernatural threats. Just imagine how an everyday work day might be a diplomatic meeting with vampires, studying an alien substance or fighting a dragon. The only reason this is my 5th choice on this list is because of the mortality rate…

4. Mapmaker (Mapmakers Trilogy by S.E. Grove)

Okay Imagine if maps were more than just a flat piece of paper or screen that you stared at, but could instead come in all different shapes and kinds? A mapmaker could map someone or something’s memory solely by touch, or put their own memory into a map and therefore show the path they themselves took. Some can even map the future! Mapmakers get to travel and explore the world, and as someone who also loves maps, this is a dream job.

3. Valkyrie (Magnus Chase and The Gods Of Asgard by Rick Riordan)

“So what are you doing?” “Well, you know, reaping the souls of worthy warriors, working in a after-life luxury hotel hanging out with rip Einherjars, demigods and gods, fighting giants… you know, the usual”.

2. Librarian (The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman)

As a Librarian in this series, you get pretty much the best job in the world – to read and collect books, plus travel to different worlds with magic, Faes, vampires, dragons… Can you like imagine the absolute thrill and joy of having this as a job? Every day is an adventure, and it includes books.

1. Any job at Camp Half-Blood (Percy Jackson and The Olympians by Rick Riordan)

There was no doubt I would have this on my list. The percy jackson series will always have a big place in my heart (where most people have Harry Potter), so between all these choices, working at Camp Half-Blood would no doubt be my no.1 priority. God I’d be crying tears of joy if I became the toilet cleaner. For those of you who haven’t read the series, Camp Half-Blood is a summer camp for greek demigods. Awesome? Hell yeah.

So this was my pick of fictional jobs. What’s yours? Comment below or link to your own blog post (or booktube video!)

  1. Totally agreed on being a Librarian and using The Language, like in The Invisible Library. I’m a corporate librarian and it’s definitely not as adventurous!
