Finally time for another Top 5 Wednesday! I missed the last week’s topic due to essays I needed to work on, but this week is pretty calm so I have more time blog 😀
This week’s topic is sponsored by Sam and Lainey over on this Goodreads group, and is about authors I want to read more from, authors from which I’ve only read one or few books from and need to read more. Because of that I won’t pick authors I want to read from but haven’t yet, but instead those I’ve already read from and want more.
Honestly, this was kind of tough. When I discover a new other that I love *cough* Brandon Sanderson *cough* I will devour all their books. But, luckily, I came up with some :D!
(victoria schwab, terry pratchett, robin hobb, william shakespeare, C.S. Lewis)
5. William Shakespeare
I’ve only read his play Hamlet, and fell in love. I really hadn’t expected that, but hey that’s wonderful! I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on another copy of one of his plays :D!
4. C.S. Lewis
I’ve read/listened to two of his Narnia books (The Magician’s Nephew and The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe) and both were magical reads. I love his writing style, his world-building, his characters… Plan on listening to the audio book of the third Narnia book sometime soon!
3. Victoria/V.E. Schwab
I loved Vicious and I seriously have no idea why I haven’t read more from her. A Darker Shade of Magic sounds like something I’d love, but I just haven’t got my hands on a copy and that’s the only reason, I guess. Definitely need to read more from her.
2. Terry Pratchett
Well, I’ve only read the novel he did with Neil Gaiman, Good Omens, and that is honestly the book with Gaiman that I love the most. Ever since I found out about the Discworld series I have been quite intimidated, but after finishing Good Omens, I think I’ll love Pratchett’s writing. I have the first book to start soon, though I know that most people say that you should skip the first two, I plan on reading the first and then skip to another. Just to get some background facts and such 😀
1. Robin Hobb
Aaaand no. 1 place goes to Robin Hobb! I’ve read The Liveship Traders and gave each book 5 stars on Goodreads, I just LOVED everything about them. Why did it take me so much time to read them? I have no doubt that Hobb will be my new Sanderson (jk, no one will replace his books but they will stand on equal footing). I plan on going to town and just buy all her Elderling books in one go, or at least a whole trilogy. If you haven’t read any Hobb books, what are you waiting for?? Go annd read them!
So! These were my picks for this week’s topic, do you agree with any or already read them? Which authors would you like to read more? Comment below! If you’ve done this meme, I’d love to see your picks 😀 ❤
Pratchett is probably my favourite author. The great thing about the Discworld books is that you could start with any of the sub-series’ first books. I’d recommend Equal Rites or Guards! Guards! Or there’s a couple of standalones like Small Gods and Pyramids.

Ah that’s great :D! Literary Weaponry though said it wasn’t as good, so I think I’ll start with Shades of Magic and then see about This Savage Song :)! x

I adore Schwab’s Shades of Magic trilogy but, I must admit, This Savage Song didn’t speak to me. Returned it to the library after only reading half. However, Shades of Magic is most definitely worth a read.

Oh that’s good to know, what was it about This Savage Song that did not appeal to you? x

The characters felt more shallow than the well developed ones in Shades of Magic and it was more futuristic which isn’t usually up my alley. I really think it was just personal preference that turned me off from it because I know Schwab is a wonderful writer.

Ah okay! Guess I’ll begin with Shades of Magic then :)! x

I love your choices! CS Lewis is another I need to read more of. I’ve read the first few Narnia books and quit enjoyed them. His narrative voice is so unique. I quite enjoy it. I need to read some Robin Hobb. I hear such good things about her work!

Yeah C.S. Lewis is such a unique narrator! Oh you must read Robin Hobb, for me it took a while to start it (everyone recommended the books to me because of my love for Sanderson) but now I just want to scold myself for taking so long haha xx

The Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis is, imho, his very, very best. It’s so applicable to our world today that it’s like he had a vision of the future.

That sounds really interesting, I haven’t heard of that book so I’m gonna look it up! Thanks. xx

I’m with you there on C.S. Lewis. I’ve only read The Magician’s Nephew back in grade school and I remember really liking it. But I haven’t read the other books by him, while I do love the first two Narnia movies. I’ve been wandering though if you can read most of the Narnia books in any order?

I honestly dom’t know, but I think you should start with The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe and then just follow the chronologily*. Oh The Narnia movies are so great, I’ve watched them so many times ❤

Right? I’m sad that they didn’t do more of the other books into movies. Ok good to know 🙂

I can’t believe I haven’t read anything by VE. Schwab yet! I’ve only really found out about her this year actually! So I totally agree with you on that one – I NEED TO READ SOME (what I mean is all) OF HER BOOKS 😀

I can’t wait for you to get your hands on a copy of A Darker Shade of Magic, it’s such a great book!
Aside from the obvious The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe choice, I remember really loving the fifth Narnia book, Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
Terry Pratchett is a really great choice! I’m really intimidated by Discworld too though, it’s so hard to know where to begin. I’ve read Going Postal and its sequel Making Money, and enjoyed both of them, as well as Good Omens, but I really need to pick up more of his work!

Yeah me neither hha!
Yeah the first Narnia book can’t be replaced, but now I’m looking forward to continue even more if you say the fifth book is that good :DD
Well, we’ll see what I think of him after finishing some more of his books, the Discworld books are all pretty short so everyone will be a quick read 😉 x

I’ve only read his Mistborn trilogy and his Steelheart trilogy but I think Mistborn is my favourite! 😍

OH Mistborn, the first thing I read of Sanderson… have you continued with the next books? I waited like a year because I was still not over Hero of Ages… but DAMN were they good, new favorite characters and all ❤

I haven’t continued with Mistborn but I probably will once the series is complete! I really love his books so I don’t think I will be able to leave a book of his unread.
